House Calls
We understand that it is not always desirable to bring your pet to a clinic. That is why we are proud to be a mobile veterinarian and offer house calls to see animals in your own home. Seeing animals in their home allows us to treat the animals in a comfortable environment. This is especially important for Fear Free exams and treatment of seniors and felines that are otherwise stressed by clinic visits. Dr. Steinberg has been providing house calls on the north shore of Kauai since 1998.
Please let us know of any specific requests or conditions that will require special attention. We promise to communicate with you throughout the process to make sure it goes smoothly for you and your pet.
Exams and Consultations
During your visit Dr. Steinberg will collect a thorough history, do a complete exam, then discuss differentials and treatment options so that together you can decide the best treatment option for you and your furry family member.
On Wellness visits we will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. We also want to monitor your pet’s weight, ensuring that your pet stays a healthy weight. Our veterinarian will also look for any potential problems. Our goal is to catch any problems before they become major ones. The sooner that we can catch a problem, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely that your pet will make a full recovery!
Nutritional Counseling
Obesity is a common problem among pets, as it can be easy to over-feed a pet that knows how to beg. But being overweight is a serious medical problem for animals and can cause real health problems as they get older. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and be within a healthy weight range.
Diet is a key factor in your pet’s health. Whether you are feeding a well-balanced manufactured diet or a home-made diet, we can help tailor it to your companion’s nutritional needs.
Vaccinations
There are a variety of diseases which affect our pets and other animals. This makes proper vaccination vital in protecting them from the many types of illnesses they are susceptible to.
Although over vaccination is certainly a concern, there are some vaccines that are essential to your pet’s health and well-being. At NSVS we stay current with the ever-evolving findings of the independent Task Force on Vaccines, as well as, the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
We are committed to evaluating the potential risk of exposure for each individual patient so that only those vaccines that are truly indicated are recommended.
